Victoria K. Opthof, Esq.
Ms. Opthof joined Shulman and Shabbick in 2013 as an associate practicing in the areas of family law, workers’ compensation, personal injury, social security disability, and general civil litigation. She is a lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley devoting her practice to the local community.
In the area of family law, Ms. Opthof represents clients in divorce, custody, child and spousal support matters, domestic violence/protection from abuse matters, guardianships, and power-of-attorney abuses. She has obtained favorable outcomes in Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, including maintaining primary physical custody and obtaining joint physical custody for fathers and mothers. Ms. Opthof’s appearances before the court include all stages of litigation including: conferences, master’s hearings, and trials. As a mother of a young daughter, she is intimately familiar with the struggles of raising children and can relate to the sometimes overlooked issues concerning infant welfare and structured schedules. Ms. Opthof’s experience in personal injury includes representing victims of automobile accidents, medical malpractice, and slip/trip and falls. She has fought for victims’ rights obtaining favorable settlements and verdicts throughout the Lehigh Valley. Ms. Opthof is not afraid to stand up to insurance companies who refuse to pay victims suffering from severe injuries. She has also stood up to insurance companies who violate consumer protection law, obtaining compensation
In the area of workers’ compensation, Ms. Opthof is experienced in litigating all stages of workers’ compensation claims. This includes filing the initial claim petition, representing clients at court-mandated hearings, filing penalty petitions, and representing clients at compromise and release hearings. She has successfully argued complex workers’ compensation matters before both Workers’ Compensation Judges and the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board. Outside of her legal practice, Ms. Opthof enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter and being involved with various civic and religious organizations. Ms. Opthof sits on the Board of Directors for Safe Harbor Easton, and is a member of Session to First Presbyterian Church Easton. She is also a member of AAUW Easton Brank and the Northampton County League of Women Voters.
Prior to joining Shulman and Shabbick Ms. Opthof was an associate for a small litigation firm in Easton PA and served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Emil Giordano of the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas.
